Which image formats are supported?
Compress Image currently supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WebP images.
Why did my image only become slightly smaller?
Some images may already be well optimized. In those cases, additional compression may only reduce the file size slightly without noticeably affecting image quality.
Why is PNG compression different from JPG or WebP?
PNG uses lossless compression and does not use the same quality setting as JPG or WebP. Oleva applies PNG-specific optimization instead, so the amount saved can vary significantly between images.
Why is the converted file sometimes larger than the original?
Different image formats use different compression methods. Depending on the image content, dimensions, output format, and quality setting, the converted file may be larger or smaller than the original.
Will converting an image reduce its quality?
It depends on the output format and quality setting. JPG and WebP use lossy compression, so lower quality settings may reduce image detail. PNG is lossless.
Will metadata be preserved?
Image metadata such as EXIF information may not be preserved during conversion because the image is re-encoded in your browser.
