Notice Cleaner helps reduce unnecessary notices in the WordPress admin area and creates a cleaner experience for your selected Admin UX Cleaner (AUC) Audience.

WordPress plugins and themes can display notices for many reasons, including setup instructions, promotions, reminders, update messages, and administrative warnings.

On websites with multiple plugins, these notices can quickly make the admin interface distracting or confusing, especially for clients who do not need to act on them.

Notice Cleaner helps reduce that clutter while keeping important WordPress information available.

Notice Cleaner lets you control unnecessary WordPress admin notices for your selected audience.

How Notice Cleaner Works

WordPress displays admin notices through several standard notice types.

AUC identifies supported notices and applies your Notice Cleaner configuration to users who match your Audience settings.

The goal is to reduce unnecessary visual noise without interfering with important WordPress administration.

Depending on the notice and its source, AUC may hide or collapse supported notices for the affected audience.

Why Clean Admin Notices?

A typical WordPress website may display notices from:

• WordPress itself.
• Themes.
• Plugins.
• SEO tools.
• Form plugins.
• Backup or security plugins.
• Marketing and upgrade messages.
• Setup reminders.

Many of these notices are useful to the person maintaining the website but irrelevant to a client whose job is simply to manage content.

For example, a client may not need to repeatedly see messages asking them to:

• Upgrade a plugin.
• Leave a review.
• Complete an optional setup wizard.
• Enable an unrelated integration.
• Subscribe to a mailing list.

Reducing these notices makes important information easier to notice when it actually appears.

Important Notices Are Treated Differently

Notice Cleaner is not designed to blindly remove every WordPress admin notice.

Important system information and critical WordPress messages should remain visible where possible.

This is intentional.

A clean dashboard should not come at the cost of hiding information that may indicate a real problem with the website.

Notice Cleaner reduces clutter. It is not intended to hide critical problems.

Hide Supported Notices

Notice Cleaner can hide supported non-critical admin notices for users affected by your AUC configuration.

Hide supported non-critical notices that are unnecessary for the selected audience.

This can be useful on client websites where maintenance-related or promotional messages would otherwise distract users from their normal work.

The underlying plugin or theme that generated the notice is not modified.

AUC controls how the supported notice is presented to the affected user.

Collapsed Notices

When appropriate, notices can be presented in a less intrusive form instead of occupying a large part of the WordPress admin screen.

Supported notices can be kept out of the main workspace while remaining available when needed.

This provides a middle ground between displaying every notice prominently and removing notices entirely.

Allow Important Notices

If a notice should remain visible to your users, keep it outside the Notice Cleaner filtering rules where supported.

This is useful when a particular plugin displays information that is important to the client's workflow even though other notices can safely be cleaned up.

When deciding what to keep visible, consider whether the affected user can actually understand or act on the message.

If only the website administrator can resolve the issue, the notice may not need to dominate a client's workspace.

Audience Rules Apply

Like other AUC features, Notice Cleaner follows your Audience configuration.

For example, you could configure AUC so that:

Administrator
└── Notices remain unchanged

Client Editor
└── Supported unnecessary notices are cleaned up

This allows developers or site administrators to retain the information they need while providing clients with a quieter admin experience.

Third-Party Plugin Notices

Many WordPress plugins display their own admin notices.

AUC can handle supported notices that use recognizable WordPress admin notice patterns, but third-party plugins do not all implement notices in the same way.

Some plugins may:

• Use custom HTML structures.
• Display notices outside standard WordPress notice areas.
• Render messages dynamically with JavaScript.
• Build custom admin interfaces that resemble notices but are not standard WordPress notices.

Because of this, Notice Cleaner may not detect or control every message produced by every plugin.

This behavior does not necessarily indicate a problem with AUC.

Notice Cleaner Does Not Dismiss Notices at the Source

Cleaning a notice through AUC is different from permanently dismissing it inside the plugin that created it.

Notice Cleaner controls the admin experience for the configured audience. It does not generally change the originating plugin's internal notice state.

This distinction is useful when administrators still need access to a notice while clients do not need to see it.

After Installing New Plugins

New plugins can introduce new admin notices.

After installing or updating plugins, review the WordPress admin area for the audiences you manage.

If new unnecessary notices appear, review your Notice Cleaner configuration and confirm that the resulting experience remains appropriate.

Example: A Client Content Dashboard

Imagine a client logs in to update pages and publish articles.

Without Notice Cleaner, the top of the admin screen might contain:

Plugin A: Please leave us a review!
Plugin B: Upgrade to Pro.
Plugin C: Finish the setup wizard.
Plugin D: Connect your account.
WordPress: Important system warning.

For the client, the first four messages may be irrelevant.

Notice Cleaner can reduce unnecessary clutter while allowing important WordPress information to remain visible.

The result is not simply a dashboard with fewer messages. Important messages also have a better chance of being noticed because they are no longer surrounded by promotional or irrelevant notices.

Recommended Approach

When configuring Notice Cleaner:

1. Configure the appropriate Audience first.
2. Remove notices that are clearly unnecessary for those users.
3. Keep information that users need for their normal workflow.
4. Avoid treating every admin notice as unwanted clutter.
5. Preview the affected user experience.
6. Review the configuration after installing significant new plugins.

For client websites, it is often useful to keep the administrator experience relatively complete while applying stronger notice cleanup to client-facing roles or users.

Limitations

Notice Cleaner works with supported WordPress admin notices.

Because WordPress plugins and themes can render messages using their own interfaces, AUC cannot guarantee control over every message displayed anywhere in the WordPress admin area.

AUC also does not replace monitoring, maintenance, security, or update-management tools.

Website administrators should continue to regularly review the site for important system information.
